Politics, society and culture banner

Compass and maps, cropped image  Here's a list, obviously a very short list, of the Critical Pages we've posted so far on a variety of subjects which, for lack of a better phrase, were calling politics, society and culture. They're opinion pieces and, yes, have a point of view. Every reader will have an opinion and opinions won't always agree. But we hope that we have our facts right, that our reasoning is straight forward and our writing crisp and to the point.

The old fashioned compass in the photo above  not only gives you true North, but also functions as a sundial, and inside the dome-like lid, on the left, is a table of magnetic corrections. This is an ingenious device from long ago, before we  had atomic clocks and global positioning satellites.
